Trust, Privacy & Security

This page is maintained by Reality Laster, the author and operator of Fred's Fun Time Universe, to answer common questions about how we handle your data when you visit our site, sign up for our newsletter, or order a book. It is editable project content — not an independent audit or certification.

What information we collect

We only collect what's needed to fulfill your order or send the updates you asked for:

  • Newsletter signup: your email address.
  • Contact form: your name, email, the inquiry type, and the message you write.
  • Orders: your name, email, shipping address (for hardcovers), and order details. Payment card information is entered directly into Stripe and never touches our servers.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Purchases and signups should be made by a parent or guardian.

How we use it

  • To deliver the e-book download or ship the hardcover you ordered.
  • To send order confirmations, shipping updates, and (if you opted in) newsletter announcements.
  • To respond to messages you send through the contact form.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Service providers

We rely on a small set of vendors to run the site. Each one only receives the data needed to do its job:

  • Stripe — processes payments. Card details are entered directly into Stripe's checkout.
  • Lovable Cloud — hosts the website, database, and transactional emails (order confirmations, ebook delivery, shipping notifications).
  • Shipping carrier — receives your shipping address to deliver hardcover orders.

Payments

All payments are processed by Stripe over an encrypted connection. We receive a confirmation that your payment succeeded along with the order details, but we never see or store your full card number, CVC, or PIN.

Security practices

  • The site is served over HTTPS.
  • Customer-facing tables in our database use row-level security so data is only accessible to trusted server code, not the public internet.
  • Admin tools (such as fulfillment) require a password and are not exposed to general visitors.
  • Secrets such as API keys are stored server-side and are never shipped to your browser.

No online service can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable steps to protect the limited data we collect.

Cookies

We use a minimal set of cookies and local storage to keep the checkout flow working and to remember which environment (test or live) admin tools should talk to. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

Email & unsubscribing

If you signed up for the newsletter and would like to stop receiving emails, every email includes an unsubscribe link, or you can visit the unsubscribe page directly.

Your choices

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing the address on our contact page. We'll respond within a reasonable time frame.

Children's privacy

Fred's books are written for kids ages 4–9, but the website and store are intended to be used by parents, guardians, educators, and other adults. Please don't submit a child's personal information through the site.
